Fashion I The Inbetweeners – Inter-seasonal dressing
The nights are pulling in and the warm weather is officially long gone, meaning one thing: we need a new winter wardrobe pronto! The thought of getting out our winter boots in the first week of October is truly depressing, and don’t even get us started on the temperature drop in Edward Boyle, so we’ve compiled a list of irresistible pieces to get us through the inbetween season weather. As it’s not snowing (yet), we need a new wardrobe which will keep us cosy in the chilly winds but won’t leave us sweating on the trek to uni: think lightweight jackets, cute hats and that scarf your nan knitted years ago. The new season is all about checkered prints, oversized woollies and chunky biker boots, so it’s time to invest in some of these trusty weather-proof must-haves.
Too warm for a woolly jumper but too cold to step out in a skimpy t-shirt? Meet your wardrobe saviour, also known as the fury gilet. Gilet’s have upped their place on the fashion-meter and are now our autumn blues protector. Be daring and go for this lime green beauty or tone down the vividness and go for a black or grey, paired with your favourite t-shirt and skinnies. With this Topshop number bogey green never looked so cosy!
An autumn outfit is incomplete without a faithful, chunky scarf and thankfully the high street is jumping on board to guarantee our necks (and noses) are kept toasty. As tartan is the number one trend for the season, it’s a great excuse for us all to honour our Scottish roots and inject a bit of square-print into our outfit. Tartan rush for under a tenner? You can’t go wrong.
There’s nothing worse than wet feet (apart from the smell that follows shortly after) therefore a good pair of sturdy boots are essential for Britain’s torrential rain. The ankle boot has made a colossal come back this year and will still look cool in summer with a pair of cut-offs. Monochrome is still on trend for this autumn and gives any old outfit a bit of zest so snap up these stop-and-stare boots for under £50 or have a look at the other ankle boots River Island has to offer: you won’t be disappointed!
