Beat Bar Presents…
Saturday 23rd February
Beat Bar have been on a roll lately, securing bookings from a variety of exciting artists from all sorts of different sounds and scenes, every week, as part of their straightforward ‘Beat Bar Presents’ series. With previous weeks bringing in names like Mala and Gilles Peterson, and a set from New York boom-bap legend DJ Premier planned for March, the quality control has been high, but Pangaea and Moxie should be more than up to the task of fulfilling expectations next Saturday.
Having studied here a few years back and starting up one of the UK’s leading labels, Hessle Audio, in the process, Pangaea is no stranger to a Leeds crowd, though he’s strayed far from his dubstep roots, now favouring a more house/techno influenced sound, with an esoteric edge.
The sound of London’s Moxie is even harder to define, but no less brilliant. Jumping from grime and dubstep to hip-hop, house and anything else that catches her ear, she fits the mold of a typical ‘anything-goes’ UK bass DJ really, but her quality control and technical precision make her one of the most underrated DJs in the scene.
