Leeds’ has a collection of popular basement escapes to venture to at the weekend, frequently seen by the student population in the familiar Hifi and Wire clubs. None in the city however seem as adept at providing all manner of entertainment as Distrikt. From mid-week Salsa sessions, to irresistible deals on tapas and cocktails to providing Sunday roasts to all those with sore heads recovering from the weekend. A mysterious ability to book first class DJs without charging customers a ticket is perhaps the most impressive characteristic of this beloved sub-ground bar however.
Students and locals of Leeds alike will no doubt be relishing the next example of this approach to programming when Cosmin TRG plays on the 12th March. Hosting the evening and the masterminds behind the booking of the Romanian producer are Rob Chadwick and Brett Sinclair of local Leeds label, Catch Recordings.
Cosmic TRG will be operating on the night from the corner booth of the bar where you can expect to find the heavier side of techno on display. Having previously released on heavyweights such as Tempa, Running Back, Rush Hour and 50Weapons the producer is likely to weave pounding beats with the most raw and industrious sounds, showcasing what he has done so well beforehand around the world from Berghain to Trouw, Fabric to Razmatazz, and everywhere in between and beyond.
For the guys behind Catch Recordings, the 12th will be something of a precursor to the 8th release on their label, out on the 21st March. Bringing a more sharp and sophisticated approach to music production previous producer on Catch will be returning for what is described as ‘expressive, individual and truly passionate music that will deliver a unique experience when it comes to electronic music.’
Positioning itself away from a saturated landscape of music production, Catch Recording’s previous releases demonstrate its ability to produce original and forward-thinking music. See what they’re about on the 12th and check out their latest release below.
