After about a year trying, I can now confirm Mr Alex Turner was unable to find a single f**k to give about what people think about him. In the video for The Last Shadow Puppet’s latest offering, a cover of Jacques Dutronc’s ‘Les Cactus’, he can be seen dancing like a dad at a wedding reception whilst donning his best French accent. It is a marvellously extravagant cover of a fairly restrained track.
This cover gives the classic tune a rocking restoration with a heavier beat, raspier vocals and bigger guitars. However, the fundamental 60’s charm is never lost. They make it more of a homage to the song writing than about themselves. The Shadow Puppets are bringing old classics to modern audiences and in a world where pop rubbish dominates the charts, I couldn’t thank them more.
