Electropop fourpiece Boxed In will be delivered to Belgrave this Monday 6th Feb, slap bang in the middle of their current tour.
Fronted by producer and engineer Oli Bayston, Boxed In have been described as ‘life enhancing’ and have consequently risen through the ranks since their acclaimed eponymous album released in 2015. Though originally from Manchester, Bayston has worked in London as an engineer and assistant to producer Dan Carey (Bat for Lashes, Hot Chip) and has more recently worked in his own Hackney studio as a producer and songwriter for artists including Lianne La Havas and Nimmo. Surrounded by such celebrated artists, one can understand how Bayston has flourished to become one of them.
Although much of their most recent album Melt is carried by infectious pulsating bass lines, the melodies are detailed, warm and controlled, with intelligent lyrics to match. If your dream notion of modern dance music includes 80s synthpop and 90s house and techno with perceptive lyrics to match this is not one to miss.
