BBC America have recently confirmed that the hit show Killing Eve is returning for a second season on 7th April, fans of the show are hoping a UK release date will be revealed soon. With pitch-perfect performances from Sandra Oh and Jodie Cromer, Killing Eve was perhaps one of the most talked about shows on TV in 2018, so it is no surprise that many people are awaiting season 2.
Killing Eve shares the story of Villanelle (Cromer), a cold-hearted and witty assassin who engages in an intense game of cat and mouse throughout the series with MI5 agent Eve (Oh). After being assigned to investigate a case of one of Villanelle’s victims, Eve becomes increasingly obsessed with finding Villanelle, often going to extraordinary lengths and breaching professional boundaries to track her down. Season 1 ended with both women expressing a fascination with one another and sharing a peaceful moment in bed together before Eve stabs Villanelle in a sudden, intense altercation.

A full trailer for season 2 has not yet been released, but a trailer for the upcoming BBC dramas shows two brief moments from the new series of Killing Eve. The first showed a dishevelled but very much still alive Villanelle and the second showed Eve talking to husband Niko. Neither clips give away much about the plot – but it does confirm Villanelle’s fate. The BBC have said season 2 resumes directly after the events at the end of season 1 and there are a few new faces appearing in the cast, including Nina Sosanya and Edward Bluemel. Another big change coming in season 2 is head writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge is passing lead writing duties to Call the Midwife star Emerald Fennell. Whilst Waller-Bridge remains an integral part of Killing Eve as an executive producer, it will be interesting to see the direction Fennell takes the popular show as fans eagerly anticipate season 2.
