The Gryphon newspaper is Leeds University Union’s official student publication. One of the oldest societies on campus, we began our journey in 1897, and we are now regarded as one of the most successful student newspapers in the country.

The likes of Daily Mail editor Paul Dacre, Observer food critic Jay Rayner, Guardian deputy national editor Polly Curtis and BBC Royal Correspondent Nicholas Witchell have passed through our office doors, and our latest editors have gone on to write for The Mirror, The Times and The Evening Standard.

Whether you’re new to the practice or a journalistic stalwart, come and join our team. We have eleven sections to our publications The Gryphon and In The Middle, which allows you to write about whatever you want, whenever you want. We offer additional workshops for writers and 1-2-1 feedback for those who are looking to shape their writing style. We also welcome student designers and photographers too!
