Mint XL opens at former PRYZM site in Leeds
Leeds’ newest nightclub opens just in time for fresher’s week.

The new 2,500 capacity Mint XL is an exciting new club that opened its doors on 25th September.
The club describe themselves as ‘a new multi-purpose space for electronic music & more in Leeds’.
This venue was once home to PRYZM, however they permanently closed in 2024 as their parent company went into administration.
Mint XL will operate with a strict no phones policy. This is something that has worked well at Mint Warehouse, another venue run by this team. The Mint team stated that this works by giving out stickers upon entry to be placed over cameras. Phones may still be used momentarily if needed, for example, when paying for drinks.
One thing that has sparked a lot of interest about this nightclub is that, according to Mint XL’s social media, the club will have air-conditioning, something a lot of venues lack in Leeds.
On the Mint XL Instagram page, they shared minute-long episodes that showcased all three rooms available and what each room brings to Mint XL.
The first episode is an introduction to the Club Room. This room draws inspiration from the other Mint spaces. This room will house some well-loved DJs, with intimate, longer sets. The Club Room is designed to be a chill environment, with lots of seating dotted around the room.
The second episode features The Ballroom. Mint XL’s social media states that this was their ‘most ambitious transformation’ yet, and one of the largest spaces in this venue. The Ballroom has kept some existing features, but some structural changes have been made to make the room soundproof to ensure excellent sound quality.
The final episode shows that the third and final room, The Cage, is ‘the most intimate out of them all.’ The Cage features a 360° booth, something that works well at Mint Festival. The dance floor is sunken, making it an immersive experience between yourself and the DJ. The Cage will be home to extended sets, allowing artists to delve into their sets.
Mint XL will be home to many different club nights, one of which is every After Dark every Thursday night, bringing something completely different. When After Dark occupies The Cage room, people can vote on Instagram, picking a genre of music that they want that night, and the one with the most votes gets played.
Mint XL looks to be an exciting new addition to Leeds nightlife, with one member of the public saying ‘it is a shame PRYZM is no longer, however I am very happy and excited that such a great venue is being done up and invested in’. No doubt the people of Leeds will love this venue and hope to see it thrive.
