O2 Academy Leeds Student Darts Event Cancelled

The Ally Pally Student Darts and Fancy Dress Event, which was due to take place on the 20 November at the O2 Academy Leeds, has been cancelled. Organisers confirmed the decision in an email sent to ticket buyers last Tuesday and said customers would receive a full refund.
A student who purchased a ticket said: “I feel upset and at a loss as my boyfriend arranged to come with me to the event. It just came out of the blue.”
The event was advertised as a student darts experience inspired by the atmosphere of the PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace also known as Ally Pally.
Darts is taking the UK by storm, with this year’s PDC World Darts Championship final being watched by an average of 1.4 million people on Sky Sports. Beyond the sport itself, darts is renowned for its theatrical player walkouts, audience costumes and, of course, an excuse to get the pints in!
Although the event at the O2 Academy will no longer go ahead, another student darts competition is scheduled to take place in Leeds this November.
Arrows Events will hold its next competition, Leeds ‘The 1st Leg’, on 7 November at Stylus in the Leeds University Union. Organisers say a portion of the funds raised by the event will be donated to The Wilder Foundation. According to Arrows’ website, over £1.2 million has been raised by the Wilder group so far. If you plan on attending, be sure to get the costume box out first!
