The University of Leeds welcomes approximately 30,000 students each year. People love to say that University is the best years of your life and offers students experiences that they would never encounter elsewhere. However, beyond all the fun we hope to reminisce on later we all tend to wonder where we may end up post graduation.

For many of us graduation may seem distant but it’s never too early to think of what may come next. So what are University of Leeds graduates up to?

Each year students leave and enter university and wonder where they may end up by the end of their hard work. The reality is that for most graduates it’s not immediate and it can take time. The silver lining is that over 80% of University of Leeds graduates do end up employed within 5 years of completing their degree.

Research conducted by Indeed’s Hiring Lab found that the current job market is complicated to say the least. Recent figures found that graduate job listings have fallen by 7% in comparison to last year’s figures, being the lowest since 2020.

For students starting university these figures can be nerve racking but there are many aspects that these statistics miss. Many of those who graduate don’t necessarily jump straight into a job. Many students and this may be you, opt to travel, volunteer, or even decide to continue their studies.
